Measuring athlete recovery effectively

I’ve been diving into the data around recovery metrics recently, especially the use of HRV (Heart Rate Variability) as an indicator of athlete readiness. It seems like many teams are leaning on this tool to predict performance output, but I’m curious about how others are implementing these insights. Have you seen any significant changes in your athletes’ performance as a result of monitoring recovery in this way?

I’ve noticed a big difference in recovery when I incorporate some light yoga and breathing exercises right after training. It seems to help lower HRV variability faster and puts my athletes in a better headspace. Have you tried combining HRV assessments with more holistic recovery practices?

Using HRV is great, but I’ve found that combining it with sleep quality metrics really gives a fuller picture of how ready an athlete is. It’s like trying to bake a cake with just flour — it might rise, but you need all the ingredients for it to be good. Have you considered tracking sleep data alongside HRV?
